Cradles to Crayons

What Happened?
On July 21st, eight wonderful BGSA members united forces to make a powerful impact on local Chicago communities. The event asked us to sort through donations, keeping only the highest-quality items so any child would immediately feel special.

What we learned?
What surprised us was how many donated clothes are sent straight to textile recycling simply because they need a good wash or have stains that cannot be removed. Knowing what organizations like Cradles to Crayons can and cannot accept before donating can help ensure more items go directly to families who need them.

Volunteer with us next time!
It was extremely rewarding to see how just a few hours of volunteering can help support children and families throughout Chicagoland. We’d love to return with an even bigger BGSA group next time, and maybe make a day of it with lunch for our volunteers! Keep an eye out for future BGSA service opportunities.
